Why Lulworth Castle is an Incredible Wedding Venue

Lulworth Castle is a venue that will take your breath away, and as someone who’s filmed wedding across the UK & abroad, that’s really saying something. Located near Lulworth Cove on the Jurassic Coast, it’s one of the most iconic wedding venues in Dorset. From the moment you drive through the gates and the castle appears on the horizon, it feels a bit like you’ve stepped into a fairytale world that was built for storytelling – hopefully that world involves good food, better company and an epic party!

It's based in the Lulworth in the Dorset countryside, meaning it’s not far from Lulworth Cove which makes it a perfect opportunity to drive down there after your dinner to get some epic sunset portraits. The space inside this Dorset castle is versatile and expansive, so you can really make it your own, but the venue does most of the work with the wow-factor, so you could potentially go minimal with decoration. Having said that, the space still has a ‘cosy’ feel as it’s a relatively smaller castle, so you’re not going to lose any guests throughout the day.

From a videographer’s perspective, the inside of Lulworth Castle is perfectly lit, the venue is an absolute show-stopper, and there’s infinite space for creativity.

I can honestly say that if you’re planning a Lulworth Castle wedding, you’ve picked one of the best venues in the South. It’s historic, has charm, looks incredible on photos/videos and as a bonus, your friends and family will be blown away.

Favourite Moments from this Lulworth Castle Wedding

From the moment Sarah & Will got in touch from New York, I knew their Lulworth Castle wedding was going to be one to remember. They were bringing over a full crew of friends and family for what they described as a once-in-a-lifetime celebration in “a freakin’ castle” and Lulworth didn’t disappoint.

The day began with a beautiful ceremony at St Andrew’s Church, just a few steps from the castle itself. It gave the whole thing a classic, British feel which was exactly what they were after.

Back at Lulworth Castle, they kicked things off with a champagne tower on the lawn (highly recommend for the vibes and the video content). The castle grounds were perfect for relaxed couple portraits, fun with the bridal party, and a golden hour glow that made everything look straight out of a film.

Inside, the wedding breakfast setup was next-level. Lulworth’s raised stage added a sense of theatre to the speeches which, by the way, were some of the best I’ve filmed. There’s something about Americans giving speeches that just hits.

The party took the energy even higher. A Father-Daughter dance, an emotional first dance, and then a band, saxophonist and violinist that had the castle absolutely bouncing. Lulworth Castle brought the magic to Sarah & Will’s wedding, and then some.
